Morning Car Ride

This morning with EJ after getting our Starbucks fix the radio informed us:
That a group of professors from Idaho, found out these statistics via information passed through blogs and texts:
Monday: Most likely day of the week to maintain a new diet plan (if started on this day).
Tuesday: Least likely day of the week to get laid.
Wednesday:
Thursday: Most likely day of the week to get laid.
Friday: Most likely day of the week for your car to get stolen.
Saturday: Most likely day of the week to die from alcohol poisoning.
Sunday: Most likely day of the week to be the happiest.

So---yesterday I had a great time with EJ & Janet from Blue World Studios helping out, learning, and shooting. The subject at hand was a group of lovely models showing off the work of Erica Angeline.

Jesse Grunged Out

Yesterday I met up with Jesse and we took some pretty fun shots. We walked around downtown Waukesha along the river and then behind the shop fronts on main street. I had a great time! Thanks Jesse!

Baby Mia!

Yesterday my friend Keren brought her and Shawn's baby girl in for some pictures. Mia is a great baby and I am happy she was my first baby to take pictures of!

Sweet Death continued.

Yesterday we did stuff with baking decorations (sprinkles) and then some fun ones with BUBBLE gum. I added a little graphic design elements to some of the pictures.

Alissa & Brady's Wedding

On Friday Jim&I shot their wedding @ Seven Seas. I used to work there when I was in highschool, so it was interesting to go back and see what has changed, and what has remained the same. I had a great time shooting the bride and her girls on the piers and the ceremony was very touching. It was the first time, I was close to experiencing a tear of joy. Tara & Barry Wedding

Tara and Barry were hitched this Friday, July 17th. The rain held off and the outdoor ceremony was beautiful. I spent the afternoon with the girls and we had a great time. The reception was awesome and everyone seemed to fully enjoy T&B's specialty drink!

I took some pictures of Gina and her horse Lobo @ the fair yesterday. But to make the evening a little more excited I requested that she bring her prom dress out again for some more pictures. Her friend and her horse Leo joined the fun too. We had a great time.

Becky's Senior Pictures (round UNO)

Becky, one of Black Dog Studios Senior Reps, came in today for her first photo session. She had previously visited the studio and got photos taken for a NEWD clothing line promotional shoot.

Sat Wedding-Elizabeth & Hubert

I met up with Elizabeth, parents and her sisters (just a portion of her bride's maids) at the Country Suites Hotel in Menomenee falls and got some great pictures of the girls getting ready. Then she met up with the groom and groomsmen at the place of the ceremony & reception, Old Orchard Inn. The boys had a few beers and awaited the arrival of the beautiful Bride. Tiff got some cool shots of the day because SHE was in the wedding as one of the bride's maids! She looked lovely--prettiest photographer there!
Elizabeth spiced up the wedding attire by wearing a traditional Japanese Kimono for the ceremony. The ceremony was short and sweet and it was finalized with a thrown rice attack as the newly weds left the reception hall.
After some mingling the wedding party hopped on a bus and we went to Main Street and got some amazing pictures near the water fall and around the park.
Dinner was at Seigos Japanese Steak house in Sussex. The food show was awesome.
After dinner we all went back to the Orchard Inn and Elizabeth changed into a beautiful wedding dress!
Once the band took a little break we cleared the dance floor and played some drinking games!
For the record: ELIZABETH's TEAM ALWAYS WON!! (ofcourse I was on her team)
A really cool element of the reception was the Ice Sculpture--that was dually used for decoration, martini icer AND a shot slide! This wedding was amazing we all had a great time!

Jared took me wakeboarding.
I had soooo much fun--taking pictures...and boarding for a little bit. I'm way better than I thought I would be!! All it took was a couple face plants--but then I got it!! :)

Cheryl and I shot Pattie & Juan's Wedding. The wedding ceremony and reception was held at Country Springs in Waukesha. The outdoor ceremony was perfect and the kids at the reception were highly entertaining.

Adrianna & Gustavo hit the Streets of Milwaukee

Adrianna and Gustavo got married a couple weeks ago, in Mexico.
While I was stuck in the cold and studying for finals Jim shot their
destination wedding and had a great time.
They came back to Milwaukee and Jim and I and the wedding party spent the day walking around the city and snapping pictures every where we went. We met up with Adrianna at the Continental Hotel and walked down water street and found some awesome alleys.
Then we met up with Gustavo and the rest of the wedding party at The Safe House. After a couple shots of patron, and a bunch of great pictures we headed over to The Iron Horse Hotel. We then walked over to the Harley Musuem and then made a quick stop for a single photo at Jim's favorite restaurant, Conjitos.
Then we drove to the Art Museum and got some amazing photos, the lighting was amazing!

Christmas Pictures

Wendee and her two daughters came in last week for some great Christmas card photos. I was really excited when I found out how great the pictures turned out. I really enjoyed taking pictures in the new barn studio.

Hockey!!

Taylor returned and brought all of her hockey gear. We got some great studio shots! I had so much fun playing with the lighting. Leo came to work with me that day, which made everything even better.

Snow Boarding SUnDaY

After taking a few shots outside near the barn, Jim set up the studio and I did my first indoor, studio lighting phoot shoot. Taylor came in with her snow boarding gear and her hockey jersey and we got some awesome shots. I adore black and white photography and I had an apsolute wonderful time. Taylor is an easy gal to shoot. She put on her hockey jersey for a couple shots, but she is coming back this weekend to do some more hockey pictures with all her equipment!

I went to Nate's foot ball game and took some pictures. Despite the rain and the cold weather the pictures and game turned out great! Be sure to check out the Online Gallery to see the rest of the pictures! Great Job Nate!!

Julie & Rich Engagement Photos

These engagement photos were so fun! We stayed in Stone Wood village and got some great pictures. The weather was perfect and the couple was so easy to photograph! They are getting married in late November, on my pup's birthday, which is also my hockey number. Check out the Black Dog Studio main blog to see more pictures from their photo shoot.

Kelly & Kenny Engagement

Congrats Kelly & Kenny! We went to Lannon Park, and despite the crazy wind we got some great pictures! This was an exciting shoot for me because it was my first engagement photo shoot. I had so much fun!

Starbucks

Starbucks currently has a new Specialty Hot Chocolate. When Jake and I went there we wondered what could be so special about minimal complexity drink identical to a warmer-than-normal version of NesQuik. When we asked the Barista she said that it was made with 3 types of chocolate and was creamier than their regular version. I chimed in, "more expensive too." Her cheeks pinkened as she quietly muttered in agreement. I think the word Specialty placed in front of anything is just testing out the placebo effect.
Jake ordered the original hot chocolate made with soy-milk and it was just dandy; and of course I had my camera to document the occasion.

Lake Mills

Jim, Harpy, and I went up to Lake Mills. We visited his family and picked up an 110 year old sleigh to use in our studio barn for Xmas family and card pictures. Hi! My name is Karen and I am very excited to share my artwork, photography, and thoughts of the day.
I work at Black Dog Studios and everyday is full of pleasant surprises and interesting challenges. The people I work with at Black Dog studios are more than co-workers, they are like a close knitted family, ...minus the family-bickering.
The pictures I will share on this blog will be pictures I take on my daily on my own and ones that I do at the studio with Jim.
I attend University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. I am studying Graphic Design and Mass Communication/Journalism with emphasis on Advertising. I am studying photography under Jim at Black Dog Studios.
Besides painting, drawing, and photography, I enjoy spending time with my pup Leo and my family.
